I was diagnosed with autism at age 2, and immediately entered into a developmental pre-school. My first several years in school were spent learning how to deal with all of the sensory input. I started to use words at age six. Before that it was tough for people to understand what I needed. It really wasn't until I was 12 that I started to speak in sentences that people could understand.
